CS Kipchumba Murkomen Leads Delegation to Condole with Inspector General Douglas Kanja Following Father’s Passing
Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Kipchumba Murkomen, this afternoon led a high-level delegation to condole with the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, following the passing of his father, Mzee Weston Kirocho Kanja.
CS Murkomen, accompanied by his colleague, Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, Dr. Deborah Barasa, expressed heartfelt condolences to the Kanja family during a visit to their Nyeri home.
Also present were Deputy Inspectors General Eliud Lagat (Kenya Police Service) and Gilbert Masengeli (Administration Police Service), alongside the Director-General of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), George Njao.
Speaking during the visit, CS Murkomen described Mzee Weston Kirocho Kanja as a patriarch whose values and legacy were evident in the public service of his son, IG Douglas Kanja.
“We are here not just as colleagues, but as a family in service to the nation, standing in solidarity with one of our own during this difficult time,” said Murkomen. “We pray that God grants the Kanja family strength, peace, and comfort as they mourn the loss of their beloved father.”
The CS assured the family of the government's full support and highlighted the importance of unity and compassion, particularly within the ranks of national leadership, during times of personal grief.
Mzee Weston Kirocho Kanja was remembered as a humble and respected community elder whose contributions and values shaped the lives of many.
Plans for the late Mzee’s burial are currently underway, with further details expected to be announced by the family.
