Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary Roseline K. Njogu, CBS, has reaffirmed the State Department for Diaspora Affairs’ commitment to strengthening support for Kenyans living and working abroad. She made the remarks while hosting members of the National Assembly’s Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations Committee at the department’s Nairobi offices on Thursday, July 31, 2025.

The legislators, led by Committee Chairperson Hon. Nelson Koech, MP (Belgut), were briefed on the State Department’s strategic objectives, programs, and achievements. PS Njogu highlighted milestones in diaspora engagement, including enhanced support systems, improved communication platforms, and initiatives that harness the diaspora’s contributions to national development.

“Our diaspora is a vital part of Kenya’s economic and social fabric. We are strengthening structures to ensure their concerns are addressed promptly and that their investments and skills benefit the country,” Njogu stated.

She emphasized the importance of collaboration between the State Department and Parliament to develop policies and frameworks that effectively address diaspora-related issues.

During the visit, the committee toured key service areas, including the Call Centre and Counseling Support Room, giving lawmakers firsthand experience of how Kenyans abroad are assisted.

The MPs commended PS Njogu and her team for their dedication to connecting with and supporting Kenyans globally, noting that effective diaspora engagement plays a critical role in fostering economic growth and national cohesion.

Njogu reiterated that the State Department is committed to addressing emerging challenges while continuously improving service delivery. “Our focus is on creating seamless communication, robust support services, and empowering our diaspora to contribute meaningfully to Kenya’s development,” she added.

The visit marked a step toward deeper cooperation between the executive and legislative arms of government, aimed at elevating diaspora affairs to a key pillar of Kenya’s foreign relations and economic agenda.
