‘Tos Majehovah Show’ Cancelled by Eldoret Sports Club Over Security Concerns
The highly anticipated ‘Tos Majehovah Show’, headlined by popular Kalenjin comedian Senge Helena, real name Vitalis Kiplagat, has been cancelled by the Eldoret Sports Club management, citing the current security situation in the country.
The event, which was slated for August 2, 2025, was expected to attract thousands of fans from the Rift Valley and beyond, marking one of the biggest comedy performances of the year in the region.
In an official cancellation letter dated July 9, 2025, Eldoret Sports Club Secretary Samson Changwony referenced a request made by the comedian on May 30 and expressed regret over the decision.
“Reference is made to your letter dated 30th May 2025, requesting to use the Eldoret Sports Club on 2nd August 2025 for your event ‘Tos Majehovah Show’ and subsequent quotation on the same date which you are yet to acknowledge,” the letter read in part.
“We regret to let you know that due to the security situation currently in the country, we hereby cancel hosting the event here at Eldoret Sports Club Grounds with immediate effect. Kindly bear with us and sorry for inconveniences caused.”
The cancellation comes in the wake of heightened national tensions following the June 25 Saba Saba Memorial protests, during which Senge Helena made a surprise appearance in Nairobi. His participation, alongside other public figures, has sparked speculation about the possible political undertones of the show and whether this influenced the decision to call it off.
For fans and supporters, the cancellation is a significant disappointment. Senge Helena, known for his sharp wit and deep connection to Kalenjin culture, had been promoting the show for weeks, promising new material and a major celebration of local humor.
“It’s painful. We had poured our hearts into this. This wasn’t just a show, it was a homecoming,” Senge Helena posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, adding, “To my fans, I’m sorry. I promise we will find another way.”
Supporters online quickly rallied behind the comedian, with many questioning whether the cancellation was politically motivated.
Meanwhile, Eldoret Sports Club has maintained that the move was purely based on national security advisories and was not intended to target any individual or group.
The government has not issued any official statement connecting the cancellation to Senge Helena’s participation in the June 25 protests. However, several entertainment organizers across the country have reported increased scrutiny for public events in the wake of the demonstrations.
