Senator Esther Okenyuri Nyaituga graced the Education Day celebrations at St Mark's Mokorogoinwa Secondary School in Masimba Ward, Nyaribari Masaba Constituency, where she lauded students and educators for their outstanding achievements in academics and co-curricular activities.
The event, which brought together students, teachers, parents, and local leaders, was dedicated to honouring excellence, nurturing talent, and reinforcing the spirit of learning. Senator Okenyuri commended the school community for cultivating a culture of discipline, determination, and continuous improvement, noting that education remains the most powerful tool for personal and societal transformation.
In her remarks, she emphasized the significance of rewarding students’ efforts, explaining that recognition not only boosts morale but also ignites ambition. “By celebrating these achievements, we are telling our young people that their hard work matters. We are giving them permission to dream even bigger,” she said.
To support the school's educational journey, Senator Okenyuri donated books through her flagship literacy initiative, Mchakato wa Usomi Programme. The donation is aimed at enriching the school’s library and reinforcing a reading culture that equips learners with critical thinking skills and global perspectives.
“The books are not just resources, they are gateways to imagination, knowledge, and possibility. I believe they will go a long way in fuelling curiosity and academic growth,” she noted.
She further expressed her pride in last year’s class for their exceptional performance and encouraged the current cohort to aim even higher. Looking ahead, the senator reaffirmed her commitment to education and youth development, stating that she eagerly looks forward to next year's Education Day, where she hopes to once again celebrate student excellence.
Senator Okenyuri’s presence and support left a lasting impression on the learners and staff of St Mark's Mokorogoinwa Secondary School, reinforcing the message that with the right support and recognition, every child can thrive.
