Gachagua Lauds Mulembe Nation Tour, Urges Focus on Unity and Grassroots Empowerment
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has commended the Mulembe Nation tour led by prominent leaders including Kalonzo Musyoka, George Natembeya, Eugene Wamalwa, Fred Matiang’i, Cleophas Malala, and Justin Muturi, citing it as a powerful demonstration of grassroots engagement and regional unity.
Speaking shortly after the official opening of the Democratic Action Party-Kenya (DAP-K) offices in Butula Constituency, Busia County, Gachagua welcomed the renewed spirit of political inclusivity and called on leaders to prioritize the people’s aspirations over partisan interests.
“This tour is a reflection of a nation rising—a Kenya where leadership is no longer confined to boardrooms and elite circles but anchored in the villages, markets, and homes of everyday citizens,” Gachagua stated.
The former Deputy President praised the residents of Busia for what he termed as “an inspiring reaffirmation of their commitment to the rule of law and participatory democracy.” He noted that their open rejection of power brokers and their demand for transparency signal a critical turning point in the country’s democratic journey.
“In Busia, I witnessed citizens ready to shape their destiny—face to face with their leaders, not through whispers and gatekeepers. That’s the Kenya we all deserve,” Gachagua said.
He urged political leaders across the divide to embrace the model of direct civic engagement being championed by the Mulembe Nation movement, noting that the true transformation of the country will only happen when leaders work with, and not above, the people.
“As we move towards the future, let our mission be clear: build a Kenya grounded in truth, equity, and shared prosperity. Let this tour be the spark that lights up the hopes of millions,” Gachagua added.
The Mulembe Nation tour, now in its second day, aims to consolidate political support in western Kenya while championing governance reforms, regional development, and national cohesion ahead of the next election cycle.
