DAP-K Disowns Viral Fake News Claiming Leadership Takeover by Governor Natembeya

The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) has issued a stern and unequivocal statement disowning a widely circulated poster on social media that falsely claims Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has assumed leadership of the party.

In an official communication released on Tuesday, the DAP-K Communications Directorate labeled the poster as “fake and malicious,” asserting that it is a deliberate attempt to destabilize the party and mislead the public.

"Let it be known, and let it be clear to all—DAP-K remains firmly and unshakably under the leadership of Hon. Eugene Ludovic Wamalwa," the statement read.

The party emphasized that Wamalwa’s leadership is fully recognized by the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties and backed by the DAP-K constitution and internal structures.

The fake poster, which has been shared widely across multiple social media platforms, suggested that Governor Natembeya had taken over as party leader—a move DAP-K has now categorically denounced as baseless propaganda.

"These reckless attempts to destabilize our party through fabricated propaganda will not succeed," the party declared, warning against "political impostors and sponsored schemes meant to hijack the will of our membership."

Calling for vigilance among its supporters, DAP-K urged Kenyans to reject digital misinformation and manipulation, vowing to uphold its values of ideology, integrity, and unity.

"DAP-K is not for sale. It is not up for grabs. It is not a playground for political opportunists and their masters," the statement continued.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to its mission of building a just, democratic, and united Kenya, asserting that it remains “intact, strong, and moving forward under Hon. Eugene Wamalwa.”

As the political season heats up and party realignments intensify ahead of the next general election, DAP-K’s firm response signals a readiness to confront disinformation campaigns and protect its institutional identity.

Supporters and political observers are now watching closely as DAP-K seeks to reinforce its position amid growing political maneuvering within Kenya's multiparty landscape.
