Governor Kachapin Receives Disease Surveillance Vehicle as Counties Strengthen Public Health Response

Governor Simon Kachapin today joined fellow county leaders at State House Nairobi to receive specially designated disease surveillance vehicles aimed at boosting grassroots health security and emergency preparedness.
The handover, presided over by H.E. President William Ruto, marks a significant milestone in Kenya’s efforts to strengthen public health systems through the decentralization of disease detection and response mechanisms.

Each of the 47 counties received a fully equipped surveillance vehicle to enhance real-time monitoring, investigation, and response to public health threats.
The nationwide rollout also includes the deployment of digitised, integrated surveillance systems that have already improved vigilance at both health facility and community levels. These systems are supported by targeted training for health workers, ensuring faster detection and coordinated response to outbreaks.
The initiative reflects a broader national commitment to equitable health delivery and epidemic preparedness in line with Kenya’s health sector transformation agenda.
