President William Samoei Ruto on Wednesday inspected the ongoing construction of the Lamu–Ijara–Garissa (A10) Road and its associated spur roads in Sarira, Fafi Constituency, reaffirming the government's commitment to transforming infrastructure and unlocking economic opportunities in North Eastern Kenya.

During the inspection tour, President Ruto said the strategic road project is a key component of the government's broader development agenda aimed at enhancing connectivity, facilitating trade, and improving access to essential services across the region.

The project involves upgrading the Lamu–Ijara–Garissa corridor and constructing associated spur roads to all-weather gravel standards, a move expected to significantly ease transportation challenges that have for years affected residents and businesses in the area.

Speaking to local leaders and residents, the President noted that improved road infrastructure will open up remote areas, boost commerce, strengthen security operations, and accelerate socio-economic development in Garissa County and the wider North Eastern region.

"The government is committed to ensuring that every part of our country is connected through reliable infrastructure. This road will improve movement of people and goods while creating opportunities for economic growth and investment," President Ruto said.

Residents welcomed the progress of the project, expressing optimism that the improved road network will reduce travel times, lower transport costs, and enhance access to markets, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions.

The Lamu–Ijara–Garissa Road is also expected to complement ongoing national infrastructure initiatives designed to support regional integration and stimulate economic activities along key transport corridors.

The President's visit underscores the government's focus on infrastructure development as a catalyst for growth, particularly in historically underserved regions. Once completed, the road is expected to transform mobility and strengthen links between Lamu, Garissa, and surrounding areas, paving the way for increased trade and investment opportunities.

The inspection tour was attended by national and county government officials, local leaders, and project engineers overseeing the construction works.
