Lusaka Sparks Inspiration at Kibabii, Urges Students to Rise Above Limitations as He Revives Alumni Unity Drive
Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has delivered a powerful message of hope, discipline, and resilience to students of St. Mary’s Kibabii High School, urging them to stay focused on their education and embrace values that guarantee long-term success.
The governor, who is an old boy of the institution (Class of 1977–1980), made a nostalgic return to his former school where he credited his formative years at Kibabii for shaping his leadership journey and personal discipline. His visit was marked by emotional reflections, encouragement, and a renewed commitment to strengthening the bond between alumni and the school.
Addressing students, teachers, and administrators, Lusaka emphasized that success is not determined by one’s background, but by determination, discipline, and consistency in pursuing goals. He reminded learners that every great leader starts from humble beginnings and that their current environment should be viewed as a launch pad rather than a limitation.
“Your background is not your ceiling; it is your foundation. What matters most is how you use your time, the discipline you build, and the choices you make every day,” he told the students, drawing applause from the audience.
The governor encouraged students to take their studies seriously, avoid negative peer influence, and remain committed to excellence both inside and outside the classroom. He stressed that integrity and hard work remain timeless values that open doors to opportunities in education, leadership, and life.
He further urged learners to respect their teachers and school administration, noting that discipline within school structures is a key predictor of future success. Lusaka also called on students to embrace leadership opportunities within the school, saying such experiences build confidence and responsibility.
In a heartfelt reflection, Lusaka shared his personal journey from Kibabii classrooms to public leadership, noting that the lessons he learned at the school played a significant role in shaping his character and resilience. He encouraged students to remain hopeful even in difficult circumstances, assuring them that perseverance always pays off.
Beyond inspiring the students, Governor Lusaka made a significant pledge to spearhead the revival of a strong Kibabii Alumni Association. He said the association would serve as a bridge between former students and the school, enabling structured support in mentorship, infrastructure development, scholarships, and career guidance.
He noted that many successful alumni across different sectors have a responsibility to give back to the institution that molded them, adding that collective effort from former students can transform the school into a center of excellence.
“We must reconnect as old boys and support the institution that gave us a foundation in life. A strong alumni association will ensure mentorship, resources, and opportunities flow back to Kibabii for the benefit of current and future students,” he said.
School administrators welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and transformative. They expressed optimism that an organized alumni structure would help address key development needs while also motivating students through mentorship and exposure to real-life success stories.
Students also expressed excitement over the governor’s visit, describing it as inspiring and eye-opening. Many said his story reinforced their belief that they too can achieve greatness regardless of their current challenges.
The visit concluded with a call for unity among all Kibabii alumni, with Governor Lusaka urging them to take pride in their shared heritage and work together to build a lasting legacy of excellence. He reaffirmed his commitment to champion the initiative and mobilize fellow alumni to support the school’s growth and transformation.
As he departed, the governor left behind a strong message of hope: that with discipline, education, and unity, St. Mary’s Kibabii High School can continue producing leaders who will shape the future of the country and beyond.
