Senator Moses Kajwang’ has called on governors in the Nyanza region to embrace unity, dialogue, and cooperation as political activity begins to intensify ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

Speaking at a regional leadership forum on Thursday, Kajwang’ cautioned against growing political tensions, warning that unchecked rivalry could destabilize counties and undermine development efforts.

“We must put aside our differences and work together for the development of Nyanza,” he said. “Political rivalry should never lead to conflict or violence.”

He pointed to past election cycles where heightened tensions led to loss of life and destruction of property, stressing that leaders carry a responsibility to safeguard peace and stability.

“Governors in this region have a critical role to play,” he added. “Your decisions today will determine whether our communities experience harmony or chaos tomorrow.”

Kajwang’ also urged leaders to involve young people and grassroots stakeholders in peacebuilding initiatives, noting that inclusive leadership can help reduce electoral violence and strengthen social cohesion.

Political analysts have raised concerns about increasing polarization in several counties, citing early political alignments and inflammatory rhetoric as potential triggers for instability. Kajwang’s remarks are being viewed as an early attempt to cool rising political temperatures in the region.

He concluded by calling for dialogue over division, saying leaders must prioritize unity to ensure a peaceful electoral process and continued regional development.
