Hit-and-Run Horror in Nandi: 26-Year-Old Man Killed Along Nandi Hills–Kapsabet Road

A man aged 26 has died after being involved in a hit-and-run road accident at Kapsiwan area along the Nandi Hills–Kapsabet Road in Nandi County.

According to police reports from the Nandi Hills Traffic Base, the incident occurred during the night of Thursday, May 21, 2026, at an unknown time before being reported at around 7:05 a.m. the following morning.

The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was reportedly walking from Nandi Hills towards the Kipsebwo direction when he was struck by an unidentified motor vehicle that did not stop after the impact.

Police said the pedestrian suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot.

Officers who visited the scene processed the area and documented evidence before removing the body to Nandi Hills Sub-County Hospital Mortuary for preservation, pending a postmortem examination.

The fatal crash has since sparked renewed concern over rising cases of hit-and-run incidents along rural highways, where speeding and poor visibility at night continue to pose serious risks to pedestrians.

Authorities have launched investigations aimed at tracing the driver and vehicle involved in the incident. Police say the case remains active as efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the accident continue.

Residents have been urged to exercise caution when walking along busy roads, especially at night, as police intensify road safety enforcement in the region.
