President Ruto Attends UDA Grassroots Elections in Uasin Gishu
President William Samoei Ruto on Saturday attended the ongoing United Democratic Alliance (UDA) grassroots elections at Koilel Primary School in Uasin Gishu County, underscoring the party’s commitment to internal democracy and grassroots participation.
The President was accompanied by Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago and other national and county leaders as party members turned out in large numbers to take part in the exercise. The elections form part of a nationwide UDA process aimed at electing leaders at the ward, constituency, and county levels.
Speaking to party members at the polling center, President Ruto emphasized the importance of peaceful, transparent, and credible elections, noting that strong political parties are built through democratic processes that give members a voice in leadership. He urged supporters to maintain unity and conduct themselves with maturity throughout the exercise.
“The strength of our democracy lies in empowering the grassroots,” the President said, adding that UDA will continue to uphold inclusivity and participation as key pillars of its political philosophy.
The voting process at Koilel Primary School was orderly, with security personnel and party officials on site to ensure a smooth exercise. Voters expressed optimism that the grassroots elections would strengthen party structures and enhance engagement between leaders and the community.
Senator Mandago said the high turnout demonstrated the confidence party members have in UDA’s leadership and democratic ideals. He commended residents for participating peacefully and thanked election officials for overseeing the process professionally.
UDA grassroots elections are being conducted across Uasin Gishu County and other parts of the country. The exercise is expected to culminate in the formation of new party leadership structures that will play a key role in mobilization, policy engagement, and implementation of the party’s development agenda.
