Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has said President William Ruto is steadily delivering on the development pledges he made to the people of Bungoma and the wider Western region, citing visible progress across key sectors.
Speaking at Nabuyole Primary School, where he delivered a Sh7.1 million development cheque on behalf of President Ruto, Lusaka said the government’s commitment to Bungoma was no longer a matter of promise but of tangible results.
“I am glad that the President is gradually fulfilling all the pledges he made to the people of Bungoma. What we are witnessing today is proof of commitment to development,” Lusaka said.
The governor pointed to the revival of the once-defunct Nzoia Sugar Company as a major milestone, noting that the factory has resumed operations and farmers are already delivering cane and receiving payments.
“For the doubting Thomases, Nzoia Sugar is now crushing. Farmers who were stranded for years can now deliver their cane and receive prompt payment,” he said, adding that the revival had restored hope to thousands of households that depend on the sugar industry.
Lusaka also highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects, including the construction of the Kimwanga–Malaba road, which he said would ease transport, boost trade, and open up the region to investment.
He further noted that the Mau Summit–Rironi dual carriageway would significantly improve connectivity between Western Kenya and the rest of the country.
“The Mau Summit–Rironi road will be a game changer for our region. It will reduce travel time, lower the cost of doing business and spur economic growth,” he said.
The governor argued that granting President Ruto a second term would be beneficial for the region, as it would allow continuity and completion of ongoing projects while paving the way for new development initiatives.
Lusaka, who is also the Western region coordinator for President Ruto’s re-election campaign, said the President’s development record would form the backbone of their campaign strategy.
“We will use the President’s scorecard as our main campaign tool in Western Kenya. The record speaks for itself,” he said.
He questioned the capacity of the opposition to mount a serious challenge against President Ruto, describing it as fragmented and lacking a compelling development agenda.
“With such a track record, one wonders how the opposition expects to beat President Ruto. They are weak, disgruntled and short on ideas,” Lusaka added.
