NCPB Handball Team Presents League and Super Cup Trophies to Board Chairman
The National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) handball team on Tuesday presented their newly won 2024/2025 National Handball Federation League and 2025 Super Cup (Men’s) trophies to the Board Chairman, Hon. Samuel Ragwa, in a colorful ceremony held at the NCPB headquarters.
The triumphant team was led by their Team Manager, Ms. Purity Nyawira, and Coach, Mr. Bryan Mathews, who handed over the trophies to the Chairman in recognition of the team’s outstanding performance throughout the season.
Representing the Managing Director, Mr. Samuel Ndung’u, was the General Manager, Finance and Accounting, Mr. John Gichuru, while several departmental heads also attended the event. These included the Head of Procurement, Mr. Nelson Sawenja; Head of ICT, Mr. Tito Keino; Head of Legal Services, Ms. Veronica Mapesa; Head of Human Resources, Mr. James Theuri; and Head of Corporate Communications, Mr. Titus Maiyo.
Speaking during the presentation, Chairman Ragwa commended the team for their discipline, teamwork, and consistent winning record, describing them as true ambassadors of the NCPB brand.
“We are extremely proud of what our handball team has achieved. Your dedication, resilience, and passion for excellence have greatly enhanced the Board’s corporate image and strengthened our visibility nationally,” said Hon. Ragwa. “As a Board, we remain committed to supporting you as you continue flying our flag high in future competitions.”
On behalf of the Managing Director, Mr. Gichuru congratulated the players and technical bench for their outstanding achievements, noting that their victories reflect the organization’s broader culture of excellence and teamwork.
“The NCPB handball team has once again proven that success comes from hard work and unity of purpose. You have made the entire Board proud, and your spirit of determination mirrors our corporate commitment to performance and success,” he said.
Team Manager Ms. Purity Nyawira expressed gratitude to the NCPB management for their continued support, noting that the team’s success was a result of both talent and institutional backing.
“We appreciate the unwavering support from the Board and management. These wins are not just for us as players and coaches—they belong to the entire NCPB family,” she remarked.
Coach Bryan Mathews thanked the players for their dedication, highlighting the team’s hard work and focus throughout the season. He also pledged to continue nurturing young talent and building a stronger squad capable of defending their titles in upcoming tournaments.
The NCPB handball team has remained one of Kenya’s most formidable sides in recent years, consistently dominating the National Handball Federation League and representing the organization with distinction in both local and regional competitions.
