Lugari MP Mourns Munyuki Secondary School Principal, Calls for Swift Probe into His Death
Lugari Member of Parliament Hon. Nabwera Daraja Nabii has expressed deep sorrow following the untimely death of Mr. Simon Isiaho Shange, the Principal of Munyuki Secondary School, describing him as a dedicated educator and personal friend.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Hon. Nabii said he received the news of Mr. Shange’s passing with “deep shock and pain,” noting that the circumstances surrounding the death remain “delicate and unclear.” He called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and other relevant authorities to expedite investigations to uncover the truth behind the incident.
“This is a deeply concerning matter, and I urge the Directorate of Criminal Investigations together with all relevant investigative officers to expedite investigations so that the circumstances surrounding his passing are brought to light,” the MP said. “Truth and clarity are essential not only for the family but for the entire community that mourns him.”
Hon. Nabii hailed the late Mr. Shange as a principled and visionary leader in the education sector whose impact transcended the classroom.
“Mr. Shange was a dedicated and principled educator whose commitment to service, mentorship, and academic excellence profoundly impacted the lives of many students and colleagues,” he noted.
He described Munyuki Secondary School under Mr. Shange’s leadership as one of the best-managed institutions in the region, excelling in both academics and co-curricular activities. The MP further credited Mr. Shange with playing a pivotal role in transforming the school into a centre for sports talent development.
“A shrewd, quiet board operator, he has been the force behind me in pushing for making Munyuki a sports talent hub,” Hon. Nabii added.
The legislator extended his condolences to the bereaved family, the Munyuki school fraternity, and the entire Lugari community, urging calm and patience as investigations continue.
“To the family, friends and Munyuki fraternity, I pass my heartfelt condolences. Together, we share in this pain and pray for strength, peace, and justice as we come to terms with this tragic loss,” he said. “May I appeal to all of us to remain calm as investigative agencies expeditiously unravel the mystery.”
Mr. Shange’s death has sent shockwaves across the education fraternity in Lugari and beyond, with many describing him as a mentor and pillar of excellence in the teaching profession.
