Kenyan Diaspora Mourns the Passing of Monica Jerono Rotich in Louisville, Kentucky
The Kenyan Diaspora community in the United States is mourning the untimely passing of Monica Jerono Rotich, fondly known as Tula, who passed away on November 4, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky.
According to a statement released by Gotabgaa International, Monica was a beloved daughter, sister, and devoted mother to her son, Liam. Those who knew her remember her as a woman of compassion, warmth, and unwavering faith whose presence left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Friends and community members have described Monica as a pillar of kindness and positivity within the diaspora, someone who consistently extended a helping hand and inspired others through her generosity and gentle spirit.
Efforts are currently underway to fulfill her final wish — to be laid to rest in her ancestral home in Kapsowar, Elgeyo Marakwet County, Kenya. The community has since launched an appeal for financial and emotional support to help repatriate her remains for burial.
In their message of condolence, Gotabgaa International and members of the Kenyan Diaspora in the U.S. expressed deep sorrow and solidarity with Monica’s family as they navigate this difficult time.
“Monica’s life was a testament to love, faith, and community. Her loss is deeply felt among us all,” read part of the statement.
Plans for a memorial service in the U.S. are expected to be announced in the coming days as preparations continue for her repatriation to Kenya.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
