KNQA Hosts High-Level Consultative Forum on RPL and Microcredentials

The Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) convened a high-level consultative forum on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Microcredentials at its headquarters. The sessions were facilitated by Dr. Ashwani Aggarwal, Head of the Skills Policy and Governance Unit at the International Labour Organization (ILO).

Participants included representatives from the ILO, members of the Microcredentials Technical Working Committee, the State Department of TVET, TVETA, TVET-CDACC, MUA University, the Open University of Kenya, KNFJK, KSTVET, FKE, the University of Nairobi, and the Commission for University Education, among others.

Discussions focused on:

Strengthening strategic collaborations on RPL and Microcredentials;

Sharing global practices and policy options on Microcredentials;

Stakeholder engagement on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF);

Integration of RPL within the NQF;

Sectoral priorities; and

Exploring linkages between RPL and Microcredentials.
