Blue Valley Affordable Housing Project in Nyeri Hits 36% Completion – PS Omollo

 




The Blue Valley Affordable Housing Project in Nyeri Town Constituency has reached 36% completion, marking steady progress in the government’s ongoing efforts to deliver dignified and inclusive housing under the Affordable Housing Programme.

This was confirmed by Principal Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Dr. Raymond Omollo, who visited the site on Saturday, commending the project's pace and its positive impact on the local community.

“This project is not just about constructing buildings — it’s about restoring dignity, empowering citizens, and driving inclusive economic growth,” said PS Omollo.

The housing development, which commenced in August 2024, is on track for completion by February 2026. Currently, over 300 workers are engaged on-site daily, contributing to job creation and stimulating the local economy.

Inclusive and Integrated Community Model

Once completed, the project will feature three high-rise residential blocks, each rising 11 floors high and delivering a total of 381 housing units across three categories:

  • 72 Social Housing units:

    • 24 single-room units

    • 24 two-room units

    • 24 three-room units

  • 189 Affordable Housing units:

    • 49 studio apartments

    • 72 two-bedroom units

    • 68 three-bedroom units

  • 120 Market-Rate units:

    • 60 two-bedroom units

    • 60 three-bedroom units

This mixed-income approach, Dr. Omollo noted, is designed to ensure inclusivity and social integration, bringing together families from diverse backgrounds into a vibrant and unified community.

Supporting Services and Modern Amenities

The development will also include:

  • Two commercial blocks housing 16 retail spaces to support small businesses and offer convenient services to residents

  • Three children’s playgrounds to promote safe recreational spaces

  • A gas reticulation system for safe and efficient energy use

  • A power house for reliable electricity supply

  • Lift access in each block to ensure accessibility, particularly for the elderly and persons with disabilities

PS Omollo reiterated the government’s commitment to delivering high-quality, people-centered infrastructure and highlighted the crucial role such projects play in achieving President William Ruto’s vision for affordable and dignified housing.

“We are building more than homes — we are laying the foundation for a stronger, more inclusive society,” he said.
