Tragedy Strikes UDA as Nyandarua MCA Beth Wahito Dies in Road Accident, Days After Loss of Turkana Deputy Speaker

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) is in mourning following the tragic death of Beth Wahito, Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Kinangop, Nyandarua County, who died in a fatal road accident along the Nakuru–Nairobi Highway on Saturday night.

According to reports, the accident occurred around 11 p.m. as Wahito was returning home after attending an official county committee meeting in Naivasha. Her vehicle was struck by a Guardian Angel bus while she attempted to cross the road at an intersection. She died on the spot.

The news was confirmed by Nyandarua County Assembly Speaker Stephen Wachira Waiganjo, who expressed deep sorrow over the untimely passing of the outspoken leader.

“Beth Wahito led with bravery, determination, and a strong commitment to serve her community. She never shied away from standing up for what she believed in and always worked hard to improve the lives of those who were often forgotten or underserved,” Speaker Waiganjo said in his tribute.

Wahito was a prominent figure in the UDA party, where she most recently served as the Kinangop coordinator. Her political career spanned over three decades, beginning as a Youth Leader in the Democratic Party (DP), before rising through the ranks to become Nyandarua County Chairperson for NARC–Kenya, and eventually joining UDA.

Her sudden death has shocked both the Nyandarua community and the wider political landscape, coming just days after the party lost another MCA under equally tragic circumstances.

On June 12, Nanam Ward MCA and Deputy Speaker of the Turkana County Assembly, Philip Ekuwam Lomuria, passed away while receiving treatment in hospital. Lomuria, known for his passionate leadership, was remembered as a pillar of service in both Turkana County and the UDA party.

In a statement, UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar paid glowing tribute to Lomuria, stating:
“Until his passing, Philip Lomuria was a devoted and energetic leader who served his people with loyalty. He was deeply committed to his work in the County Assembly and to the mission of the UDA Party.”

The party extended its condolences to the families, friends, and constituents of both Wahito and Lomuria, noting that the dual losses have left a painful void in the UDA fraternity and in grassroots leadership across the country.

As the country prepares to bid farewell to the two leaders, messages of sympathy continue to pour in from across the political divide, with many describing both Wahito and Lomuria as dedicated servants whose contributions will be remembered for generations.
