MCA Benjamin Natui Condemns Gen-Z Demonstrations Amidst Loss of Lives and Property

Benjamin Natui, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Ngenyilel Ward, has publicly condemned the recent Gen-Z demonstrations held on Wednesday, which resulted in significant loss of lives and property. Speaking on the aftermath of the protests, Natui expressed disappointment with the motives behind the demonstrations and called for responsible civic engagement.

“These demonstrations have caused unnecessary suffering and destruction in our community. Despite the challenges the country is facing, we must maintain faith that solutions will come through dialogue and not violence,” Natui stated.

The MCA criticized the opposition for what he described as a vague agenda centered on the slogan “Ruto Must Go” or “One Term,” without clearly articulating constructive alternatives. “I have watched the demonstrations, but I have not seen the main issues the opposition is fighting for. Simply saying ‘One Term’ for President William Ruto is not an agenda that will advance our country,” he said.

Natui emphasized the importance of acknowledging the positive initiatives undertaken by the current administration. “Even if we change the president, it does not mean all our problems will be solved overnight. The development projects underway are necessary and beneficial to our residents. The opposition should also highlight the good things the president has done alongside the challenges,” he added.

The MCA cautioned against political divisions, urging that the youth should not be manipulated by politicians with self-centered motives. “The opposition should not divide Kenyans by using the youth as tools to disrupt governance. As youths, we must recognize that our lives are valuable. We should not be used by politicians to cause harm simply for their political gains,” Natui urged.

He further appealed to young people to think critically about their actions and the consequences of participating in destructive protests. “Demonstrations that lead to looting, destruction of property, and loss of lives do not help our country. Although the Constitution allows peaceful demonstrations, those that cause harm and damage should be banned,” he asserted.

Natui’s remarks come at a time when the country is grappling with heightened political tensions and social unrest, highlighting the need for peaceful dialogue and responsible leadership.
