42 Stolen Cattle Recovered After Armed Banditry Attack in Laikipia
A coordinated security operation has led to the successful recovery of 42 head of cattle stolen during a daring banditry attack on Lolldaiga Conservancy in Laikipia County.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on the evening of Monday, 23rd June 2025, when armed bandits stormed the conservancy and drove away livestock. In swift response, a multi-agency security team was mobilised to track down the suspects and recover the stolen animals.
The pursuit led security personnel to the Mukogodo area, where they encountered the armed criminals. A fierce exchange of gunfire ensued as the officers engaged the suspects. The bandits were ultimately overpowered and forced to flee into a nearby forest, abandoning the stolen livestock.
All 42 cattle were safely recovered and have since been returned to Lolldaiga Conservancy. No casualties were reported during the confrontation.
The National Police Service (NPS) commended the quick action of the officers involved in the recovery operation and reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the lives, livelihoods, and property of all Kenyans.
“We remain vigilant and committed to serving and protecting the public against criminal threats, particularly in regions vulnerable to livestock theft and banditry,” the NPS said in a statement.
