Mumias East Member of Parliament, Hon. Peter Salasya, has claimed he was the target of a brazen armed attack by unknown individuals purporting to be officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
In a shocking statement issued on Friday, Salasya alleged that his convoy was ambushed by heavily armed men who disarmed his official security team, confiscated their firearms, and pursued his vehicle with what he described as “deadly intent.”
“One of my security officers managed to escape and helped me flee into a nearby bush,” Salasya said. “They shot at my vehicle, aiming directly at me.”
According to the MP, the attackers confronted him with at least 15 AK-47 rifles and issued what he described as a “chilling message,” which he declined to disclose for security reasons.
“I have not been mentioning the government in my rallies. I have always preached peace and development,” he added, suggesting that the attack may have been politically motivated.
Salasya further claimed that he was being taken to an undisclosed location and called on the relevant authorities, human rights organizations, and the general public to closely monitor the situation.
The incident has triggered widespread concern, with calls from civil society and opposition leaders demanding immediate investigations into the circumstances surrounding the attack and the identity of the assailants.
Neither the DCI nor the National Police Service had officially responded to the allegations at the time of publishing.
This is a developing story. More updates to follow.
