DIG Lagat Commissions Two New Police Posts to Boost Security in Kasarani

In a significant step toward enhancing community safety, Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service (DIG-KPS) Mr. Eliud Lagat officially commissioned the newly constructed Ng’undu and Kamunyonge Police Posts in Kasarani Constituency today.

The new facilities, funded by the Kasarani Constituency National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF), were unveiled in a ceremony attended by senior police officials, local leaders, and residents.

DIG Lagat, who was welcomed by Nairobi Regional Police Commander Mr. George Sedah, AIG, inspected the two stations before addressing officers and members of the public. He conveyed greetings from the Inspector General of Police and extended his appreciation to Kasarani MP Hon. Captain Ronald Karauri and the NG-CDF team for their support in improving local security infrastructure.

“These police posts will go a long way in strengthening law enforcement presence and response in this region,” said Mr. Lagat. “Enhanced security is the backbone of socio-economic development, and we are committed to ensuring that residents feel safe and protected.”

Mr. Lagat announced that police officers would be deployed to the facilities immediately and commended the area for maintaining a relatively low crime rate. However, he urged officers to focus on addressing lingering issues such as land-related fraud, which remains a concern for many residents.

The DIG also applauded the Equity Group Foundation for its contribution through a public-private partnership that helped furnish the two police posts, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in supporting national security.

Hon. Karauri, who hosted the event, thanked the DIG for gracing the occasion and reiterated his commitment to continued cooperation with the National Police Service in delivering security and development for the people of Kasarani.

Also in attendance were Kamulu Deputy County Commissioner Mr. George Kamweru; KPS Director of Logistics Mr. Peter Ndungu, SAIG; KPS Director of Operations Mr. Adamson Bungei, SAIG; Njiru APS Sub-County Commander Ms. Tabitha Muriithi, SSP; and Equity Group Foundation Director of Advocacy Hon. Kinoti Boniface, among other senior officials.

The commissioning of the police posts marks a milestone in local security efforts and reflects a growing partnership between the government, the community, and private institutions to build safer neighborhoods across Nairobi.
