In a major boost for the entrepreneurial landscape, the Uasin Gishu County Government has reaffirmed its strong commitment to supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as a central pillar of Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim’s development agenda.
During a vibrant certification event for entrepreneurs who had successfully completed training on intellectual property rights, County Director of Trade Isaac Lagat reiterated the county’s resolve to empower local innovators. The training was part of an ongoing initiative under the county’s fourth development pillar, which focuses on trade, industry, and innovation.
“Our goal is to ensure every innovator has the tools, training, and opportunities to thrive,” said Lagat. “The Governor’s agenda is clear, and that’s why we are building a solid foundation where businesses can flourish through structured support and access to regional and global markets.”
Lagat encouraged MSMEs to leverage their training to scale up their operations and consider expanding into Export Processing Zones (EPZs), where they can access broader markets and benefit from trade incentives.
He further announced that the county is compiling a comprehensive database of local innovators and entrepreneurs. The initiative aims to streamline support services, tailor interventions, and create a more connected business ecosystem.
The certification ceremony marks a significant milestone in Uasin Gishu's broader strategy to transform local enterprises into competitive, value-driven businesses ready for national and international growth.
