As the holy month of Ramadan begins, Bolt Food has significantly expanded its delivery network to accommodate the surge in demand for Iftar meals. The popular food delivery platform has partnered with over 250 restaurants in Nairobi to offer a variety of affordable Iftar options, ensuring that customers can break their fast with their favorite dishes.
The exclusive Ramadan menu features a wide selection of traditional favorites such as Biryani, Kebab, Bhajia, Samosas, Grilled Meats, and Fresh Juices. Well-known local establishments like Pizza Inn, Mezza, Shabz Bar-B-Que, ChopIt Express, Chowpaty, Artcaffe, Al-Yusra Restaurant, and Papparoti Kenya are among the participating restaurants. In addition to providing a rich variety of Iftar options, Bolt Food is offering significant discounts, with promotions ranging from 25% to 50% off on selected meals.
“Ramadan is a time when demand for food delivery spikes, particularly in the evening for Iftar,” said Edgar Kitur, General Manager of Bolt Food. “In response to this, we’ve added more than 200 additional restaurants to our platform, ensuring a diverse range of Iftar cuisine for our customers. We understand how important punctuality is during Iftar, and we are committed to delivering meals within 30 to 45 minutes. For late-night diners, select restaurants will operate 24/7.”
Bolt Food has seen a notable surge in demand for deliveries in key Nairobi areas, particularly those with significant Muslim populations. In 2024, the platform recorded a 62% increase in deliveries in Eastleigh and Mathare, while Parklands experienced a 59% rise, and South B and Imara Daima saw a 48% increase in orders. These numbers reflect the growing demand for halal meals during Ramadan.
The popularity of online food delivery continues to rise in Nairobi. According to recent data, around 9.3% of Kenyans opted for online food and grocery shopping in 2023, a figure expected to grow to 16.7% by 2027. With the addition of Bolt Market to the platform, users can now order groceries and essential items, with the convenience of scheduling deliveries in advance, even late into the night.
“Our goal is to make the Ramadan season more convenient and affordable for our customers,” Kitur added. “Through Bolt Market, we’re offering free delivery within a 3-kilometer radius and discounts of up to 80% during select promotional periods. This is also an opportunity to empower small businesses by giving them a platform to thrive.”
Bolt Food’s expansion is not limited to Nairobi. In Mombasa, the coastal city saw a staggering 542% increase in deliveries from the Bamburi Nyali area, further solidifying Bolt Food’s presence in Kenya’s growing food delivery market.
With a focus on exclusive Ramadan promotions, affordability, and an enhanced delivery network, Bolt Food is making it easier than ever for Nairobi residents to enjoy hassle-free Iftar this Ramadan. Customers can access these offers and place their orders through the Bolt Food app on iOS and Android.
