Maiyo Joins Tree-Planting Drive at Uasin Gishu School, Calls on Learners to Plant More Trees

Uasin Gishu KUPPET Executive Secretary Elijah Maiyo has participated in a tree-planting exercise at Uasin Gishu  School in Turbo Sub-County, calling on learners to take an active role in environmental conservation.

Maiyo joined learners and other education stakeholders in planting trees at the school, urging the young people to make tree planting a regular activity and to ensure that the trees planted are well cared for until they mature.

He said learners have an important role to play in protecting the environment and encouraged them to extend the tree-growing initiative beyond the school compound to their homes and communities.

The exercise was also attended by the Turbo Sub-County Director of Education, who urged school heads to prioritise tree planting in their institutions and ensure that existing and newly planted trees are protected and nurtured.

The director noted that schools provide an ideal environment for instilling environmental conservation values among learners, who can in turn influence their families and communities.

The tree-planting exercise brought together education stakeholders and learners in a renewed commitment to promoting environmental conservation and increasing tree cover in Turbo Sub-County.
