TOURISM CS REBECCA MIANO, EGH, CHAMPIONS ‘ESCAPE WEDNESDAY’ AS KENYANS EMBRACE MID-WEEK GETAWAYS
Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Hon. Rebecca Miano, EGH, is encouraging Kenyans to break the monotony of the workweek with a refreshing mid-week getaway, dubbed ‘Escape Wednesday.’
In her latest campaign to promote domestic tourism, CS Miano notes that Kenyans do not need days of planning or long hours on the highway to reclaim their peace and rejuvenate.
“Escape Wednesday with a quick mid-week getaway that breaks the monotony of the routine without requiring a long trip,” said CS Miano.
The CS observed that mid-week exhaustion is real, and a simple change of scenery is often all it takes to press the reset button.
According to the Tourism CS, Kenyans can step away from the desk for an afternoon and trade concrete, traffic, and noise for lush natural trails, quiet scenic viewpoints, or open rural landscapes just beyond the city limits.
Whether it is taking a refreshing morning walk under forest canopies, lingering over fresh local food surrounded by green hills, or just enjoying a slow afternoon by serene waters, an "Escape Wednesday" trip lets you clear your mind and return home rejuvenated before the week even ends.
CS Miano has been at the forefront of championing domestic tourism as a pillar of economic growth and mental well-being, urging Kenyans to explore the beauty that lies close to home.
Her call comes at a time when more Kenyans are seeking wellness, nature, and affordable travel experiences that fit into busy schedules.
“Take a short pause, explore somewhere close, and give yourself the breather you deserve,” she encouraged.
The Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife continues to work with stakeholders to make local destinations more accessible, safe and enjoyable for all.
