Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has defended the performance of the Kenya Kwanza administration, expressing confidence that President William Ruto’s development record will secure the government a second term.

Kindiki spoke on Sunday, August 30, 2026, during an interdenominational church service and resource mobilisation event in Kipsamoo, Kapseret Constituency, in Uasin Gishu County.

The Deputy President said the government was focused on delivering on its development commitments and argued that its achievements would speak for themselves when Kenyans make their electoral decision.

According to Kindiki, the administration has made progress in implementing its development agenda and will continue pursuing projects aimed at improving the lives of Kenyans.

Kindiki Takes Aim at Opposition

Kindiki also criticised opposition leaders over their calls to review, halt or dismantle some of the government's major projects.

He challenged the opposition to present Kenyans with a clear alternative development agenda, accusing its leaders of opposing government programmes without offering workable solutions.

The Deputy President maintained that Kenyans need leadership focused on development rather than political confrontation.

Sudi Regrets Supporting Gachagua

During the same political discourse, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi said he regretted supporting former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, describing the decision as a “grave mistake.”

Sudi said he now believed that the choice had been misplaced and apologised to Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, whom he described as a true leader.

“Some time back, we made a grave mistake by supporting former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Today, I sincerely apologise to the Fire Man for choosing a tribalist and conman over a true leader,” Sudi said.

The Kapseret MP urged Kenyans to reject tribal politics, warning that the country should not be divided by ethnic rhetoric.

“As a country, we should not be divided by tribal rhetoric. Some leaders are busy sowing seeds of division, but Shetani ashindwe,” he added.

Sudi's remarks signal continued political realignment in the Rift Valley, with leaders who previously supported Gachagua increasingly distancing themselves from his political camp and reaffirming their support for President Ruto.

Murkomen Backs Ruto for Second Term

Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen also threw his weight behind President Ruto's bid for a second term, saying the administration would continue implementing its development agenda.

Murkomen said the government would not allow political mobilisation to degenerate into violence, warning individuals involved in organising goons that they would face the full force of the law.

The CS said maintaining peace and security would be critical as the country moves closer to the 2027 General Election.

His remarks come amid growing political activity across the country, with leaders already beginning to position themselves ahead of the next electoral contest.

Kindiki Calls for Peaceful Politics

Kindiki, meanwhile, emphasised the importance of peaceful politics and urged politicians and their supporters to reject violence.

He stressed that national security must be protected regardless of political differences, warning that Kenyans should not allow election-related competition to threaten peace and stability.

Kindiki's visit to Kipsamoo brought together residents and church leaders for a resource mobilisation drive aimed at supporting the construction of local churches.

The combined remarks by Kindiki, Sudi and Murkomen point to a growing effort by Kenya Kwanza leaders to defend the Ruto administration's record, consolidate political support in the Rift Valley and rally behind the President's 2027 re-election bid.

With the 2027 General Election drawing closer, issues of development, national unity, tribal politics, political realignments and security are expected to dominate political debate across the country.
