Kenya Begins Fresh National Conversation on Life Beyond Vision 2030

Kenya has embarked on a fresh national conversation aimed at shaping the country’s development agenda beyond the Vision 2030 framework, as the Vision 2030 Secretariat brings together stakeholders to deliberate on the nation’s long-term future.

The Multi-Stakeholder Consultative Meeting is being held at the Central Bank School of Monetary Studies, Rupee Room, along Thika Road in Nairobi, bringing together representatives from various sectors to discuss Kenya’s development priorities and the challenges and opportunities expected to define the country’s future.

The consultations are part of efforts by the Vision 2030 Secretariat to gather views from Kenyans and key institutions as the country considers what should come after the current national development blueprint.

Participants drawn from government, the private sector, civil society, academia, professional organisations, development partners and other stakeholder groups are expected to share their experiences, recommendations and perspectives on the direction Kenya should take beyond Vision 2030.

The Secretariat said the consultations are intended to promote an inclusive national conversation that captures the aspirations and concerns of different sectors and communities across the country.

“Kenya’s future development requires continued dialogue and collaboration among government, the private sector, civil society, academia, professional bodies, development partners and other stakeholders,” the Secretariat said.

The engagement comes as Kenya approaches the end of the Vision 2030 era, a development framework that has guided the country’s economic, social and political transformation since its launch in 2008.

The stakeholders are expected to deliberate on key issues affecting the country’s development, including emerging opportunities, persistent challenges and the changing needs of the Kenyan population.

The consultations will also provide an avenue for stakeholders to propose ideas and priorities that could inform the broader national framework for Kenya’s development beyond Vision 2030.

The Secretariat emphasised that the process requires broad participation and constructive engagement, noting that Kenya’s future cannot be shaped by government alone.

It said the views collected during the consultations will contribute to the wider national conversation and help ensure that future development priorities reflect the needs and aspirations of different groups across the country.

Stakeholders participating in the meeting have been encouraged to engage openly and constructively and to provide practical recommendations that can contribute to Kenya’s long-term development.

The Secretariat further expressed appreciation to stakeholders for their participation and continued support, describing the consultations as an important step towards building consensus on Kenya’s future development direction.

The national conversation is expected to provide an opportunity for Kenya to reflect on the achievements and lessons of Vision 2030 while identifying new priorities that can guide the country in the years ahead.

The consultations reaffirm the importance of collective action, dialogue and cooperation in determining Kenya’s development path beyond Vision 2030.

The meeting is being coordinated by the Vision 2030 Secretariat.

For media inquiries, the Secretariat has designated Suleiman Munyua as the media contact.
