Uasin Gishu Receives KSh 61 Million Health Boost as Governor Bii Hails AMPATH UZIMA Partnership

Uasin Gishu County has received a major boost in its healthcare sector following the official handover of AMPATH UZIMA assets worth more than KSh 61 million, a move expected to strengthen service delivery across public health facilities.

Governor Jonathan Bii described the handover as a historic milestone, saying the assets will be distributed to health facilities across the county to improve access to quality healthcare and enhance patient care.

Speaking during the official handover ceremony, the governor commended AMPATH UZIMA for its more than three decades of partnership with the county in strengthening HIV care, building the capacity of healthcare workers, and expanding access to quality medical services.

He noted that the organization's contribution has played a critical role in improving healthcare outcomes for thousands of residents, particularly in HIV prevention, treatment, and management.

Governor Bii said the transfer of the assets to the county government reflects the strong collaboration between development partners and the county in building a resilient healthcare system capable of meeting the growing needs of residents.

He added that the handover complements the county government's continued investment in modernizing healthcare infrastructure and expanding access to specialized medical services.

Among the flagship projects currently underway are the construction of the Ziwa Level V Hospital, Kesses Level IV Hospital, Tiret Level IV Hospital, and Moiben Sub-County Hospital. The county is also developing a state-of-the-art Diagnostic Centre at Uasin Gishu County Hospital, which is expected to improve diagnosis and treatment while reducing the need for patients to seek specialized services outside the county.

The governor reaffirmed his administration's commitment to strengthening healthcare by investing in infrastructure, medical equipment, and strategic partnerships that improve service delivery and ensure residents have access to affordable, quality healthcare.

The handover of the AMPATH UZIMA assets marks another significant milestone in Uasin Gishu's efforts to build a stronger and more sustainable health system, positioning the county to better respond to current and future healthcare needs.
