OUTRAGE IN UASIN GISHU: Retired Soldier Declared Dead While Alive, Claims Family Grabbed His Property

Residents of Nyalilbei in Ziwa, Uasin Gishu County, staged a demonstration on Thursday in support of 68-year-old retired military officer David Muigei, who says he has become the victim of a shocking identity and property fraud scheme.

Muigei raised alarm after discovering that official records allegedly listed him as deceased and that a death certificate had reportedly been issued in his name despite him being alive and residing in the area.

The retired soldier described the revelation as both devastating and confusing, saying he was stunned to learn that government records indicated he had died.

"I was shocked to find out that I had been declared dead while I am very much alive," Muigei said. "I want answers and justice."

According to Muigei, the alleged irregularities have already had far-reaching consequences. He claims that some of his assets have changed ownership without his knowledge or consent, including his Toyota Harrier vehicle.

The former serviceman has accused members of his immediate family, including his wife and children, of orchestrating the alleged scheme with the intention of taking control of his property and wealth.

The allegations have sparked outrage among local residents, who took to the streets in solidarity with Muigei and demanded a thorough investigation into the matter.

Demonstrators called on relevant authorities to establish how a death certificate could allegedly be issued for a living person and whether due process was followed during the transfer of the retired officer's assets.

Residents described the case as disturbing and urged government agencies to act swiftly to protect Muigei's rights and restore any property that may have been unlawfully transferred.

Authorities had not publicly commented on the allegations by the time of publication, and investigations into the matter are expected to shed more light on the circumstances surrounding the case.

The incident has raised concerns about the security of personal records and property ownership systems, with many residents calling for greater accountability and safeguards to prevent similar cases in the future.
