Mary Maingi Tournament Season 4 Intensifies as Teams Battle for Mwea West Glory

 


The fourth edition of the Hon. Mary Maingi Tournament continued in thrilling fashion at Kiarukungu Primary School, where Boda Boda and Legends teams from across Mwea West faced off in highly competitive knockout matches.


The tournament, spearheaded by Mwea Member of Parliament Mary Maingi, once again showcased the region's rich sporting talent, with players demonstrating determination, teamwork, and resilience in pursuit of a place in the next stage of the competition.


In the Boda Boda category, Murinduko edged out Nyangati 1-0 in a tightly contested encounter, while Gathigiriri secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Tebere to advance.


The Legends category also produced exciting action, with Murinduko defeating Nyangati 1-0. Tebere Legends booked their place in the next round after overcoming Gathigiriri Legends 5-3 in a dramatic penalty shootout following a closely fought match.


Speaking on the tournament's progress, MP Mary Maingi praised all participating teams for their commitment and sportsmanship, noting that the competition continues to serve as an important platform for talent development and community engagement.


She emphasized that beyond the excitement of football, the tournament is helping to strengthen social cohesion, provide positive opportunities for young people, and foster unity among residents of Mwea Constituency.


As the competition advances toward the finals, anticipation continues to build among players and supporters eager to see which teams will emerge victorious in one of the constituency's most popular sporting events.
