Natembeya Rallies Opposition, Declares Ruto’s Exit Key to Solving Kenya’s Problems

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has intensified his attacks on President William Ruto’s administration, declaring that removing the Kenya Kwanza government from power in 2027 would solve “80 percent” of the country’s problems.

Speaking on Sunday during the Khasoko Ward empowerment initiative in Bungoma County, Natembeya said the opposition was united and ready to mount a serious campaign to send the ruling United Democratic Alliance administration home.

The outspoken governor, who was hosted by Bumula MP Jack Wamboka, accused the national government of mismanaging key sectors such as health, infrastructure and taxation.

“The handling of health, tax and infrastructure is extremely poor. Some people who do not understand devolution are still holding onto funds meant for county functions,” Natembeya told residents.

He criticized what he described as attempts by the national government to centralize health policies and frustrate county operations by delaying the release of devolved funds.

Natembeya said Kenya needed inclusive leadership focused on empowering ordinary citizens and improving livelihoods at the grassroots level.

He maintained that opposition leaders would aggressively campaign across the country to offer Kenyans a different style of leadership from what he termed as repression and failed governance.

“The people of Kenya must demand accountability and better leadership. Poor leadership has slowed development in the Western region for many years,” he said.

The governor also took aim at leaders claiming to represent the Luhya community, accusing them of failing to defend the region’s interests despite remaining in powerful political positions.

Natembeya’s growing political influence has in recent months triggered sharp political battles with National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula and other Kenya Kwanza-allied leaders in the Western region.

Despite increasing political pressure, the Trans Nzoia governor insisted that his push for change was not personal but aimed at easing the suffering facing millions of Kenyans.

He further alleged that some of his close allies had been targeted through politically motivated court cases meant to intimidate him into silence.

“I will not be intimidated. My fight is for the people of Kenya,” he declared.

Leaders who accompanied Natembeya at the event included Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, Bungoma gubernatorial aspirant Zachariah Barasa and Sikhendu MCA Andrew Kutitila among other opposition figures.
