TENP Joins Kenya Forest Service to Mark International Day of Forests in Uasin Gishu

The Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP), in partnership with the Kenya Forest Service, joined stakeholders across Uasin Gishu County to commemorate the 2026 International Day of Forests in a vibrant event held at Paul Boit High School.

The celebrations, led by the Kenya Forest Service, were held under the theme “Forests and Economies,” underscoring the vital role forests play in driving economic growth, sustaining livelihoods, and supporting environmental resilience.

The event brought together a broad coalition of partners, including the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI), National Government Administration Officers (NGAO), National Youth Service (NYS), Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), Rift Valley Technical Training Institute (RVTTI), and African Institute for Research and Development, among others.

Activities during the day focused on tree planting, environmental awareness campaigns, and community engagement initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable forest management. Participants emphasized the importance of conserving forest ecosystems not only for environmental protection but also as key contributors to economic stability through sectors such as agriculture, tourism, and energy.

Speaking during the event, representatives highlighted the need for continued collaboration between government agencies, educational institutions, and local communities to safeguard forest resources for future generations.

TENP’s participation reflects its growing commitment to climate action and sustainability, aligning its institutional goals with national and global environmental priorities. The institution has increasingly taken an active role in initiatives that promote green skills, environmental stewardship, and sustainable development.

The event concluded with a renewed call to action for individuals and organizations to invest in forest conservation as a pathway to economic empowerment and ecological balance.
