MSEA Kirinyaga Conducts Capacity Building Session for Youth Entrepreneurs Under Jiinue Growth Program

The Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA) Kirinyaga Office, in collaboration with Grassroots Business Fund and supported by the Mastercard Foundation, conducted a capacity-building session under the Jiinue Growth Program.

The program targets youth—particularly young women with existing businesses—and aims to equip them with the skills needed to scale and sustain their enterprises.

During the session, participants were trained on key areas including entrepreneurship, business management, financial management, marketing, savings and budgeting, stress management, and other essential life skills necessary for business success.

Following the training, participants will benefit from continued business mentorship at their premises and gain access to affordable credit, enhancing their ability to expand operations and improve sustainability.

MSEA also sensitized participants on the importance of business formalization and the registration of associations, noting that this is critical for accessing government opportunities and structured support systems.

These opportunities include linkages with financial institutions, Business Development Service (BDS) providers, marketing platforms, common user facilities, and government initiatives such as the NYOTA and KJET projects.

The session concluded with increased awareness among participants on the wide range of opportunities available to support the growth of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), as well as a growing interest among youth groups in formalizing their businesses.

Nationally, MSEA operates under the leadership of Director General and Chief Executive Officer Henry Rithaa, whose stewardship continues to strengthen enterprise development and youth empowerment across the country.
