Kilifi County Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Early Childhood Education

Kilifi Deputy Governor Flora Mbetsa Chibule today hosted a delegation from the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) during a courtesy visit at her office, where discussions focused on enhancing the quality of early childhood education across the county.

The KNUT team was led by Ms. Anne Njoroge, the union’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) Coordinator, and included Ms. Alice Tuei, Executive Officer for Human Resources and Gender, Mr. Katungo Mwaboza, Executive Secretary of the Kilifi Branch, and Mr. Athumani Charo from the Kaloleni Branch.

The meeting centered on an ongoing two-day workshop aimed at strengthening support for quality early learning, with a key focus on promoting Learning Through Play (LTP) in ECE centres. The initiative seeks to improve foundational learning outcomes by adopting interactive and child-centered teaching approaches.

Deputy Governor Chibule reiterated the Kilifi County Government’s commitment to supporting programs that advance early childhood education, noting its vital role in building a strong academic and social foundation for children.

The engagement underscores continued collaboration between the county government and education stakeholders in improving access to and the quality of early learning.
