UDA Wanabiashara Caucus Launches National Platform to Amplify SME Voice

The UDA Wanabiashara Caucus has officially launched as a national platform aimed at strengthening the voice of small and medium enterprise (SME) owners in leadership and governance across Kenya.

Speaking during the launch, the caucus National Chairperson, Mr. Francis Mbogo, said the initiative brings together SME owners from all parts of the country to advocate for policies that promote economic growth, inclusive development and effective representation of entrepreneurs at both national and county levels.

Mr. Mbogo noted that SMEs form the backbone of Kenya’s economy, playing a critical role in job creation, innovation and wealth generation. He emphasized that despite their contribution, the lived experiences and challenges faced by entrepreneurs are often underrepresented in policymaking processes.

“The SME sector must have a structured and credible voice in leadership and governance. Entrepreneurs understand the real challenges on the ground, and their perspectives are essential in shaping policies that support sustainable economic growth,” he said.

The UDA Wanabiashara Caucus plans to champion pro-business policies while serving as an organized forum for engagement between entrepreneurs and policymakers. Key focus areas include improving access to finance, advocating for fair and predictable taxation, and expanding market opportunities for small businesses.

According to the caucus leadership, the platform will also prioritize capacity building, policy advocacy and practical solutions designed to empower entrepreneurs to build resilient and sustainable enterprises that contribute meaningfully to national development.

Anchored on the values of integrity, transparency, collaboration and innovation, the caucus aims to position itself as a leading national voice for SME growth, youth empowerment and job creation.

Mr. Mbogo called on business owners, policymakers, development partners and young people to partner with the caucus in strengthening the SME sector and ensuring entrepreneurs are fully represented in leadership and governance structures.

The launch marks a significant step toward consolidating the interests of small and medium enterprises within Kenya’s political and economic landscape.
