Kiambu Leaders Meet Roads CS to Fast-Track Infrastructure Projects

Kiambu County leaders on Tuesday evening held talks with the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, Davis Chirchir, aimed at accelerating the implementation of road infrastructure projects across the county.

The meeting brought together Members of Parliament from Kiambu County, senior officials from the Ministry of Roads and Transport, and heads of key road agencies to review the status of ongoing and planned projects and to align priorities with the county’s rapid urbanisation and economic growth.

Among those present were Githunguri MP Hon. Gathoni Wamuchomba, HSC, Principal Secretary Eng. Joseph Mbugua, Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) Director General Eng. Silas Kinoti, and officials from the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA).

Discussions centred on improving road connectivity to enhance the movement of people and goods, ease access to markets and social services, and support agriculture, trade, and industrial activity within Kiambu County and the wider central region.

Leaders emphasised the need for coordinated planning between national government agencies and elected representatives to ensure timely execution of projects and optimal use of public resources. They noted that improved road infrastructure is critical to sustaining economic growth, addressing congestion, and supporting emerging urban centres in the county.

The leaders also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to infrastructure development through sustainable financing, inter-agency collaboration, and efficient project delivery, with the goal of promoting inclusive growth and balanced national development.

Speaking after the meeting, Hon. Wamuchomba said leaders from Kiambu County were united in prioritising service delivery and development-focused engagements.

She noted that investment in road infrastructure remains a key enabler of economic opportunity and improved quality of life for residents, particularly farmers, traders, and small businesses that rely on reliable transport networks.

The meeting was attended by MPs James Kamau (Kabete), Gabriel Kagombe (Gatundu South), Joseph Kahangara (Lari), Simon King’ara (Ruiru), Alice Ng’ang’a (Thika Town), John Wanjiku (Kiambaa), Wachui Waithaka (Kiambu Town) and Jon Elijah Kururia, among other leaders.
