Senator Veronica Maina Among 10 Graduates of Rigorous Parliamentary Practice Programme on Gender Equality

 


Super Senator Veronica Maina has successfully graduated from the Parliamentary Practice: Mainstreaming Gender Equality and Women Empowerment programme, a prestigious course delivered by McGill University (Canada)in collaboration with the Centre for Parliamentary Studies and Training (CPST), Kenya.


The programme, fully managed by McGill University, was conducted online with strict participation requirements, including mandatory attendance and continuous on-camera engagement. Despite 22 participants enrolling at the start, only 10 met the demanding standards required to graduate.


Senator Maina celebrated the achievement, acknowledging the intensity of the programme.

“This was a rigorous and highly demanding course. There were moments I almost gave up, so I fully understand those who could not continue. However, standing among the final list of graduands tonight fills me with immense pride,” she said.


She further commended her colleagues for their dedication.

McGill University is a top-tier global institution, and completing this programme is a testament to our collective resilience and commitment to advancing gender equality in parliamentary work.


The course is designed to strengthen the capacity of legislators and parliamentary practitioners in integrating gender perspectives into legislation, oversight, and public policy. It reflects ongoing efforts to enhance women’s leadership and drive institutional reforms within Kenya’s governance structures.


Senator Maina expressed heartfelt congratulations to her fellow graduates and reiterated her commitment to championing gender equality and women’s empowerment in Parliament and beyond.
