MTRH Marks 2025 World AIDS Day with a Two-Day Staff Health & Wellness Event
Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH), in partnership with Moi University and AMPATH, commemorated the 2025 World AIDS Day by hosting a two-day Staff Health & Wellness Day, a comprehensive event aimed at promoting the health, well-being, and productivity of its workforce.
The event, which ran from December 1st 2nd , 2025 was centred on honouring staff who drive the institution’s mission of providing compassionate, patient-centred, and high-quality care.
The event drew hundreds of staff members and members of the public, offering an extensive range of preventive and wellness services, including: HIV/AIDS testing and counseling, Nutrition counselling and general wellness, Non-communicable disease (NCD) screening, Cancer screening, Mental health services, Employee Assistance Program (EAP) support
The event was organised by the MTRH AIDS Control Unit, led by Dr. Beryl Ganda (Chair), and officially flagged off by SDCS Dr. Wandera, representing the CEO.
Hospital Management Team led by Dr. Kosgey, Dr. Mogeni, Dr. Jaguga, Dr. Mulupi, Dr. Cheptinga, Madam Chemworsio, and Dr. Momanyi—delivered remarks emphasizing the importance of preventive healthcare, staff wellness, and continued commitment to HIV/AIDS awareness and management.
Participants applauded the initiative for bringing essential health services closer to staff while reinforcing the hospital’s long-standing leadership in HIV care, research, and community engagement.
The event was made possible with the support of several partners and sponsors, including Moi University Clinical Research Center, Eldowas, Co-operative Bank, Shamiri Sacco, MTRH Pension Services, EldoHub, Wauguzi, Faraja, among others—all of whom contributed to the success of the wellness drive.
As the world continues to advance the fight against HIV/AIDS, MTRH reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding both its staff and the broader community through continued advocacy, preventive care, and collaborative health initiatives.
