PS Kiptoo Reaffirms Treasury’s Commitment to Accountability Before Parliamentary Committee

Principal Secretary for the National Treasury, Dr. Chris Kiptoo, this morning appeared before the Special Funds Accounts Committee of the National Assembly, which is mandated to oversee funds domiciled at the National Treasury. The session was chaired by Hon. Abdul Rahim Dawood, the Member of Parliament for North Imenti.

During the meeting, the Committee reviewed audit reports issued by the Office of the Auditor-General concerning several special funds managed by the National Treasury, including the Provident Fund and the Government Clearing Agency Fund.

Dr. Kiptoo assured the Committee of the Treasury’s full cooperation with Parliament and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to addressing all pending audit backlogs in a timely manner. He emphasized that the Treasury remains steadfast in ensuring strict adherence to accountability frameworks and constitutional timelines, underscoring the government’s resolve to safeguard public resources.

“We are committed to upholding the highest standards of transparency and accountability in the management of public funds,” said Dr. Kiptoo. “Our collaboration with Parliament and the Auditor-General’s office is central to ensuring that every shilling entrusted to us serves the Kenyan people efficiently and responsibly.”

The engagement is part of ongoing efforts by the National Treasury to enhance public financial management and reinforce institutional integrity across all government funds.es)?
