President Ruto Launches Major Road Projects to Boost Connectivity in Machakos

President William Ruto has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming Kenya’s infrastructure with the rollout of an ambitious 360-kilometre road development programme across Machakos County.

Speaking during the launch of the 22-kilometre Kivandini–Miseleni Road in Mwala Constituency, President Ruto said the KSh1.7 billion project is a key investment that will open up vital transport corridors, spur economic growth, and improve the lives of local communities.

The President noted that the new road—one of many underway in the county—will significantly enhance mobility, reduce travel time, and create new economic opportunities for residents and businesses in the region.

“This project is a testament to our commitment to delivering reliable, modern infrastructure that supports inclusive growth,” President Ruto said. “By expanding road networks, we are strengthening connectivity, unlocking markets, and empowering communities to realise their full potential.”

He added that the government’s broader infrastructure agenda aims to stimulate trade, attract investment, and ensure that no part of the country is left behind in national development.

Local leaders and residents welcomed the project, expressing optimism that improved transport links will boost agriculture, enhance access to essential services, and attract new economic activity in Mwala and surrounding areas.

The President assured Kenyans that the government will continue prioritising infrastructure as a foundation for long-term economic transformation, job creation, and equitable development.
