Kenya Marks Rwanda Day Symposium at the 25th EAC MSMEs Trade Fair

The Rwanda Day Symposium at the 25th East Africa Community (EAC) Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Trade Fair opened in vibrant fashion, with captivating performances that highlighted the richness and dynamism of Rwanda’s cultural heritage.

Speaking during the celebrations, Principal Secretary for the State Department of MSME Development, Susan Auma Mang’eni, applauded Rwanda’s artistic showcase and encouraged the EAC MSME Trade Fair organising committees to explore innovative mechanisms that enable MSMEs to unlock and commercialise opportunities within the region’s creative economy.

PS Mang’eni affirmed that East Africa’s cultural diversity constitutes a multibillion-shilling economic frontier, noting that the daily country symposiums have provided compelling evidence of the immense talent and creativity present across the region.

To strengthen regional integration and maximise the impact of the Fair, the Principal Secretary proposed that the outcomes of this year’s EAC MSME Trade Fair be tabled for discussion during the forthcoming Summit of EAC Heads of State set to take place in Nairobi.

In a gesture of appreciation and cultural honour, the PS was bestowed the Rwandan name “Umutoni,” meaning the Favoured One, by the Rwandan delegation.

The event was attended by H.E. Ambassador Ernest Rwamucyo, the High Commissioner of Rwanda to Kenya, alongside participants from all EAC partner states.
