Empty Vessel Ministry Leads Donation Drive to Support Rescue Centre Children in Eldoret
A local non-governmental organization, Empty Vessel Ministry, has launched a humanitarian campaign in Eldoret to collect food and essential items for children living in rescue centers across Uasin Gishu County.
The campaign aims to provide direct support to vulnerable children and ensure that their basic needs — including food, clothing, and hygiene products — are met.
According to the organization’s founding director, Rose Smith, the initiative is part of the NGO’s ongoing commitment to improving the welfare of children in crisis and reuniting them with their families whenever possible.
“Through this campaign, we have managed to help many children in rescue centers and successfully reconnect several of them with their families,” Ms. Smith said. “Since 2022, we have been running similar drives across various centers to ensure that these children live in dignity and hope.”
Ms. Smith noted that the organization relies on the goodwill of the community, well-wishers, and partners to sustain its operations. She appealed to residents, local businesses, and other charitable groups to join hands in supporting the drive.
“These children depend on us. We are calling on everyone — individuals, churches, and organizations — to contribute whatever they can. Together, we can make a difference and give these children a better future,” she added.
The donation drive, which began this week, focuses on collecting non-perishable food items such as maize flour, rice, sugar, beans, and cooking oil, as well as essential supplies like clothing, bedding, and toiletries.
The exercise will run until November 6, after which all donations will be distributed to various rescue centers within Uasin Gishu County.
Empty Vessel Ministry, established in 2022, has been actively involved in social outreach and child welfare programs. The organization works closely with local authorities, social workers, and volunteers to rehabilitate, educate, and reunite children who have been abandoned, neglected, or rescued from abusive situations.
Ms. Smith reaffirmed that the organization remains committed to ensuring that every child receives care, protection, and the opportunity to rebuild their lives.“Our mission is to be a vessel of hope and transformation in the lives of children who need it most,” she said.
