Robbery Suspect Arrested , AK -47 Recovered in Kisumu
A 21-year-old suspect in robbery with violence was arrested in a dramatic fashion in Kisumu after a mid-night chase that ended with police following him to an unexpected hideout — a water storage drum on the rooftop of a building.
The suspect, Kelvin Oduor, alias Kevoo, allegedly robbed a security guard at gunpoint before being cornered by law enforcement officers on patrol.
According to police reports, Kisumu Sub-County Law Enforcement Officers were conducting routine patrols when they heard gunshots in the vicinity. In a swift move, they quickly responded to the incident and found that the suspect had allegedly robbed a security guard of his mobile phone and rubber shoes** before fleeing.
The officers proceeded on hot pursuit in an instant. Their efforts paid off after they apprehended Oduor in a water storage drum atop Patel Sarmaji Building.
In the course of arrest, officers found an AK-47 rifle with a magazine that contained five rounds of ammunition on him.
The suspect was taken to Kisumu Central Police Station, where he is undergoing processing and will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
The police praised the swift response of the patrol team, noting that their vigilance prevented potential harm to other residents.
