Moiben Member of Parliament, Prof. Phyllis Bartoo, has officially flagged off the first cohort of beneficiaries under the Bonga Na Bartoo Driving School Scholarship Program, a youth empowerment initiative aimed at enhancing employability through skills development.

The event, held earlier today, marked a significant step in the MP’s ongoing efforts to tackle youth unemployment by equipping young people with practical skills relevant to the transport and logistics sector.

“This program is not just about driving – it’s about opening doors. By providing these vital skills, we are preparing our youth for real job opportunities in a growing industry, both locally and abroad,” said Prof. Bartoo during the flag-off ceremony.

The scholarship covers full driver training, licensing, and mentorship for selected beneficiaries from across the constituency. The initiative is part of the broader Bonga Na Bartoo program—a community-driven agenda focusing on education, empowerment, and sustainable development.

Key pillars of the Bonga Na Bartoo initiatives include:

  • Empowerment Programs: Focused on nurturing self-reliance and capacity building among youth.
  • Education and Skills Development: Aimed at equipping young people with relevant technical and vocational skills to access new opportunities.
  • Youth Empowerment: Providing the necessary resources, training, and support systems to help young people thrive and contribute meaningfully to society.
  • Community Development: With a vision to build a just and inclusive society, Prof. Bartoo emphasizes integrity, transparency, and community engagement in all development efforts.

The MP reaffirmed her commitment to making Moiben a model constituency where every individual, particularly the youth, has the tools and support to succeed.

“Through initiatives like this, we are not only shaping individual futures but also building a stronger, more resilient Moiben,” she added.

The launch was attended by local leaders, parents, community members, and the excited beneficiaries—many of whom described the scholarship as a life-changing opportunity.
