Kindiki Dismisses 2027 Opposition Plans, Cites Strong Ruto-Raila Alliance

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has dismissed political leaders eyeing a run against President William Ruto and Raila Odinga in the 2027 General Election, asserting that the unity between the two leaders has created an unbeatable political force.
Speaking on Sunday during a boda boda empowerment event at the Siaya Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) grounds, Kindiki praised the Ruto-Raila partnership, calling it a “broad-based” alliance that has already begun delivering tangible development across the country.
“We respect Raila Odinga and William Ruto — they are working together and are leading us well. The future of Kenya is broad-based,” Kindiki said.
He criticized those planning to challenge the current administration, branding their efforts as “meaningless” in the face of a united government that, he said, has earned the trust of the people through service delivery and inclusivity.
The Deputy President also took the opportunity to highlight major development projects under the Kenya Kwanza administration, particularly in the Lake Victoria region. He emphasized that the government is investing significantly in the blue economy to improve the livelihoods of residents, especially fish farmers.
“This is the first government to invest heavily in the blue economy to improve the lives of fish farmers, with the support of Raila Odinga,” Kindiki said, noting that the development being witnessed in Siaya County is unprecedented since independence.
According to Kindiki, the government has secured Ksh.3.2 billion in grants to boost beach management, fish farming, and tourism along Lake Victoria. He added that these projects are already benefitting local communities and are a sign of the government's commitment to equitable development.
He assured Kenyans that the administration will continue rolling out projects in all regions, saying its track record will speak louder than any opposition campaign.
“The opposition has no chance against our record. What we’re doing across the country — from infrastructure to economic empowerment — is unmatched,” he declared.
Kindiki's remarks come amid speculation of new political alliances forming ahead of the 2027 polls, with several leaders hinting at possible bids to challenge the Ruto-Raila front. However, the Deputy President’s statements suggest the government is confident that its performance and unity will secure it another term.
