Eldoret Human Rights Activist Commends President Ruto’s Inclusive Leadership
Prominent Eldoret-based human rights activist, Kipkorir Ngetich, has lauded President William Ruto for what he termed as "visionary, patriotic and progressive leadership" following the recent decision to bring former Baringo Senator Hon. Gideon Moi on board in his broader national development and unity agenda.
In a strongly worded statement, Ngetich hailed the move as a “wise and noble decision” that reflects statesmanship and maturity in leadership. He said the inclusion of key figures such as Gideon Moi and earlier collaboration with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga demonstrates President Ruto’s commitment to building an inclusive, broad-based government focused on national development, unity, and shared prosperity.
“President Ruto has shown the country that leadership is not about individuals or selfish interests, but about the people and their development. His actions mirror those of great statesmen like the late Nelson Mandela, who united a deeply divided South Africa for the sake of progress,” said Ngetich.
He noted that the President’s inclusive approach has opened doors for equitable development across the country, reducing marginalization and promoting integration among communities.
“Kenya is one nation, one people. The peace, stability, and future of our country lie in integration, not division. President Ruto’s leadership is a step in the right direction, especially at this critical moment in our nation’s history,” he added.
Warning Against Tribal Politics
Ngetich cautioned leaders who are engaging in what he termed as "dangerous, tribal regroupings" and "sectarian politics aimed at regime change." He called out those championing ethnic alliances under the guise of political resistance, saying they are misleading Kenyans—especially the youth—with empty promises.
“These individuals are playing with fire. Kenya did not gain independence through tribal alliances but through unity of purpose. It is both irresponsible and selfish for leaders to crisscross the country rallying tribes against the government while offering no clear policies for youth employment or economic empowerment,” Ngetich warned.
He challenged such leaders to present credible data and sustainable strategies to address unemployment instead of inciting divisions, noting that many of them have no record of development or effective governance.
Backing President Ruto’s Youth Empowerment Agenda
The activist commended the Ruto administration for implementing several initiatives aimed at empowering the youth and uplifting livelihoods, including digital job creation platforms, labour export programs, affordable housing projects, and SME empowerment programs.
“Unlike those making empty promises, President Ruto has already rolled out tangible programs that are creating jobs and transforming lives. The youth must not be deceived by tribal kingpins who only seek power for personal gain,” he stated.
A Call for National Unity and Support
Ngetich appealed to all Kenyans, civil society organizations, and political leaders to support the President’s master plan for peace, cohesion, and development. He emphasized that Kenya’s past leadership has seen presidents from different communities serve for decades without tribal backlash, and Ruto deserves similar support.
“From Jomo Kenyatta to Moi, Kibaki, and Uhuru—leaders were supported based on national unity, not ethnicity. President Ruto is no different. He is the President of the Republic of Kenya, not just of the Kalenjin community,” he said.
He called on the youth to stay vigilant and united and to reject divisive politics, affirming the role of civil society in safeguarding democracy and supporting initiatives that advance the collective well-being of all Kenyans.
