Construction of Ultra-Modern New Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital to Begin Next Month – MP David Kiplagat

Soy Member of Parliament Hon. David Kiplagat has announced that construction of the highly anticipated ultra-modern New Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital is finally set to begin next month in Kiplombe, within Kuinet/Kapsuswa Ward.

Speaking during a site visit earlier this week, Hon. Kiplagat confirmed that the contractor is already on site making final preparations ahead of the official launch. The project, once complete, is expected to be one of the largest and most advanced referral hospitals in Africa, serving millions across the region and transforming the healthcare landscape in the country.

“I take this singular opportunity to sincerely thank His Excellency President William Samoei Ruto for his unwavering commitment and tireless efforts in ensuring that this transformative hospital project finally becomes a reality,” said the MP. “This is a game-changing moment for Soy Constituency, Uasin Gishu County, and Kenya as a whole.”

Alongside the hospital, Hon. Kiplagat also revealed that work on the student village—a complementary development aimed at supporting the academic and residential needs of medical students and staff—is set to begin soon. The contractor for that project has already taken over the site in Kiplombe and is expected to commence construction within the coming weeks.

The New Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital will serve as a regional medical hub, offering specialized health services, cutting-edge research facilities, and state-of-the-art medical training opportunities. The project is projected to create thousands of jobs during and after construction, significantly boosting the local economy.

“As the area MP, I remain fully committed to supporting the implementation of this vital project to the very end,” added Hon. Kiplagat. “We are building not just a hospital, but a beacon of hope and excellence in healthcare.”

Residents have lauded the development as a milestone that will improve access to quality healthcare, reduce the burden on existing facilities, and position the region as a leader in medical innovation.
