Man Found Unconscious in Ruaka Identified as Jackson Njuguna Wambui, Not Missing Blogger

An unconscious man found lying by the roadside in Ruaka on Monday evening has been identified as Jackson Njuguna Wambui, a 34-year-old clothes vendor from Kiambu Town. The man was initially mistaken by members of the public for missing blogger Ndiang'ui Kinyagia, triggering widespread speculation on social media.

Photos of the unconscious man circulated rapidly online late Monday, fueling concern and prompting calls for information about his identity. Many netizens expressed fears that he could be the missing blogger, whose recent disappearance has drawn national attention. However, those suspicions were quickly laid to rest after Wambui’s family came forward to confirm his identity.

Speaking to reporters, a relative of Wambui revealed that Jackson had been out at a local entertainment joint earlier in the evening and was on his way home when the incident occurred.

“He had left around 8 PM and was walking home, which is not far from the venue,” said a cousin, who asked not to be named. “We suspect he may have collapsed due to exhaustion or a possible underlying health issue.”

Wambui was found unconscious not far from his residence by passersby, who quickly alerted emergency responders. He was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), where he is currently undergoing treatment. Hospital sources say he is in stable condition and receiving medical care, though details of his diagnosis have not been publicly disclosed.

Local authorities have confirmed that there is no evidence of foul play, and the case is being treated as a medical emergency rather than a criminal matter.

“This was a health-related incident. There are no signs of assault, robbery, or any suspicious activity,” said a police spokesperson in Ruaka. “We appreciate the public’s concern, but we encourage people to avoid making assumptions before facts are confirmed.”

The incident has also highlighted the growing challenge of misinformation and hasty conclusions drawn from viral content on social media. Jackson’s family has urged the public to be cautious and respectful when sharing sensitive content online.

“We understand that people were worried and meant well, but it was very distressing for our family to see false information spreading so quickly,” said a relative. “We are just grateful that Jackson is alive and getting the care he needs.”
